Dear seniors, parents and guardians,

We recently received information from the Department of Health Services that caused us to reevaluate our plan for graduation.  The DHS said it is unlikely that any large gatherings would be recommended throughout the summer.  The DHS also stated that any graduation event held at this time should be either virtual or non-contact, and should not physically convene groups of people together.

Based on that information, we have decided to move graduation back to its original date of June 7th.  We will be holding a drive-thru ceremony.  Seniors and their parents are invited to come to school during their designated time below to receive their diploma.  We are asking all family members to stay in their car.  Only the senior should exit the car to receive their diploma.  Seniors should wear their cap, gown and tassel as there will be a photo opportunity after receiving their diploma.  Diplomas can be picked up under the awning of the Elementary School doors.  You should enter through the bus lane and exit onto Porter street after you have received your diploma.  If we have inclement weather, seniors will be invited to enter into the building one at a time to pick up their diploma in the MPR.  We would ask everyone to wait in their car until it is their turn.

Below is the schedule for when you will be able to pick up your diploma.  You are able to come any time during your designated hour.

12:00-1:00: seniors with the last name beginning A-G
1:00-2:00: seniors with the last name beginning H-P
2:00-3:00: seniors with the last name beginning R-Z

If you do not pick up your diploma on June 7th, it will be mailed to you the week of June 8th.

We understand that this situation  is not ideal and that everyone would  have preferred to have  an outdoor ceremony.  However, due to the recommendation of DHS, we are not able to do that this year.  We are doing what we can to make the best out of this situation and we ask that you do so as well.  We look forward to seeing you on June 7th for Waterloo’s first drive-thru graduation ceremony!

Thank you for your understanding in these difficult times.
